User Account Rules
(NOTE: Accounts that are banned multiple times – five or more – will then receive a ban of three months. Upon return after the three months, if a reason for banning occurs again, the account will be IP banned and the username will be banned permanently.)
.:Private Messaging:.
Private Messages (PMs) are a way to communicate privately between members. This does not mean that you can be inappropriate with your messages, though. Please keep any messages you send between other members to a rating that they, themselves, are comfortable with.
If anyone sends a message that makes you uncomfortable on the forums, send myself or another moderator a PM or an e-mail. All moderator e-mails will be kept public for any users to contact us that way if needed.
If any reports are given about a user being inappropriate – attempting cybersex, being overly vulgar, threatening, derogatory, or anything that may make you uncomfortable – the user will be dealt with accordingly.
For vulgar or derogatory incidents happening within Private Messages, a reported user’s account will be banned and the user will be IP banned for up to one month. For information on further punishment, see “Getting Banned”.
For attempted or successful unwanted cybersex or threats within Private Messages, a reported user’s account will be banned and the user will be IP banned for up to three months, with an immediate permanent ban if a similar incident occurs a second time upon their return.
.:Signatures:.
Signatures are a way to show people a little about yourself and what you like. You can even post links and pictures in your signatures; however, nothing vulgar, derogatory, provocative, sexual actions, violent, or gory can be posted in a link or picture in your signature. Keep your signature at a PG in rating for the younger members on the forum. None of us know how they were raised, what they are and are not allowed to see. Better safe than sorry.
Also note that images in your signature should be no bigger than 500 x 100 pixels or 250 x 250 pixels. Those are both big enough for a fair sized banner or image.
Any images found to be too mature for the users of this website will be removed from your signature with a note from a moderator and a warning to your account. If it happens a second time, the account will be banned for three days. For information on further punishment, see “Getting Banned”.
Any images found to be bigger than either set of requirements will be removed from your signature with a note from a moderator. If this happens a second time, the account will be warned. For information on further punishment, see “Getting Banned”.
Any links found to be inappropriate for the users of this website will be removed from your signature with a note from a moderator and a warning to your account. If it happens a second time, the account will be banned for two days. For information on further punishment, see “Getting Banned”.
Also note that the language you use in your signature shouldn’t be mature, either. If the dialogue in your signature is found to be too mature, a moderator will delete your dialogue and leave a message in your signature requesting that you edit your signature. Your account will also be given a warning. If you do not comply in a timely manner – and have been seen to have logged on – then your account will be banned for three days. For information on further punishment, see “Getting Banned”.
.:Avatars:.
Avatars are another way to show people about yourself and what you like, but these should also stay in the PG rating range. No vulgar, derogatory, sexual, nude, violent, or gory avatar images should be used.
If any avatar image is found to be too inappropriate a moderator will replace the avatar image with . The account will also be given a warning. If this occurs again, the account will be banned for two days. For information on further punishment, see “Getting Banned”.
.:Activity:.
It is strongly recommended that you remain active on this forum. There are places where you can state that you may be absent, be it in the general section or the spam section of the forums. Stating that there will be a long duration of absence will give the moderators no reason to potentially delete your account for inactivity.
If your account is inactive for four months or more, the account will be deleted and you will have to make a new account.
.:Posting on the Forum:.
When posting on the forums use common courtesy.
There is absolutely no reason to treat the members of this forum as if they weren’t people, or as if they aren’t good enough to be your friends. Anyone can be friends with anyone, so try to get along, and if you don’t get along with someone, take what Thumper said in Bambi to heart.
“If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.”
So, if you can’t be nice to them, just don’t reply to them. Go and post elsewhere on the forum. There are plenty of places on the forum to have fun and talk to people, so there is absolutely no reason for you to be rude.
The other moderators and myself are also people, so treat us like people. Don’t walk on eggshells around us. We’re human, we make mistakes. We’re human, we like to socialize. Don’t treat us like we don’t. We’re friendly people. We don’t look for reasons to get our members into trouble. In fact, we like having members on our forums.
Do not double, triple, or whatever post. Post once. If you have more to say, edit your post. Double posting – or more – is when you have a post and you make another post right below your other post. Do not do that. There’s no reason to. There’s never a reason to.
If your art thread is dying, maybe post a thread in the spam section saying “Hey, could you look at my art?” There are multiple ways to get around it other than bumping your thread with a post.
The only exception to the rule is when you’re writing a story and you have another chapter done and your reply is the last one. Go ahead. Post your chapter in another post. That’s fine. That’s different. That’s your story, that’s not you talking.
People that double post will receive a typed warning directly in the thread, but if it happens a second time, their account will receive a warning. A third time, and the account will be banned for one day. For information on further punishment, see “Getting Banned”.
People that bash or flame members or moderators will receive a warning to their account. If the bashing and flaming continues, their account will be banned for two days. For information on further punishment, see “Getting Banned”.
.:Language:.
All language on this forum is required to be PG-13 in rating, meaning that the following words in the spoiler are inappropriate and should not be abused on this forum in any way.
[red]fuck, cunt, slut, whore, racial slurs, pussy, bitch, bastard, faggot, queer, lesbo [/red]
If there are any other words that you feel strongly against, and would like to be added, please send me a PM. I will gladly edit my rules. (Can’t get them perfect the first time, right?)
Anyone found abusing these words will be given a warning to their account. If the warning doesn’t stop the language abuse, then the account will be banned for three days. For information on further punishment, see “Getting Banned”.
.:Getting Banned:.
Getting banned isn’t the end of the world, and certainly doesn’t mean that you should leave the forum forever. Sometimes you just get into a bit of trouble, and that’s okay. Just come back with a positive attitude and outlook, and things will work out perfectly fine. Here’s how banning and punishment works on my forum.
For a minor offense, a warning will be sent to you via Private Message, posted in your post, posted in your thread, or posted in your signature.
For an offense – or a repeat of a minor offense – a warning will be given to the account itself. Once the warning is given, a Private Message will be sent to the user explaining that the account has been given a warning, and why.
For every 10 karma gained, I will take away one level on the warning bar, but for every 30 karma lost, a warning bar will be given. Clearly you must be doing something wrong if people are taking so much karma from you.
A warning bar starts fresh every year. The only downside to that is that you need to be active so that people will like you enough to give you karma. Also note that if your warning bar reaches full and you make another offense that I cannot warn the account for, you will be banned for three days – but you will lose one level to your warning bar in the process. Never should your warning bar fill up if you aren’t continuing to make offenses.
For a second offense – or a third repeat of a minor offense – an e-mail will be sent to you stating that you have been banned for between one to three days – depending on the level of the offense – and why. Once the one to three days are over, you’ll be able to come back to the forums and enjoy yourself as normal.
For a third offense – or a fourth repeat of a minor offense – an e-mail will be sent to you stating that you have been banned for one week and why. Once the week is over, you’ll be able to come back to the forums and enjoy yourself as normal.
For a fourth offense – or a fifth repeat of a minor offense – an e-mail will be sent to you stating that you have been banned for one month and why. You can be banned for one month up to five times total – for the same reason – on my forums. Once your one month ban is up, you’ll be able to come back to the forums and enjoy yourself as normal.
For a ninth offense – or a tenth minor offense – an e-mail will be sent to you stating that you have been banned for three months and why. You can be banned for this duration only once, and the ban after it – for the same offense – will be permanent. An eighth role play offense (non-mature role plays only) will also result in a three month long ban.
For a tenth offense, a eleventh repeat of a minor offense, a second repeat of a sexual offense via Private Messaging, or an ninth repeat of a role play offence (non-mature), an e-mail will be sent to you stating that you have been permanently banned from my forums, and your IP has also been banned. You will never be able to return to the forums.
For a role play offense your account will be sent an e-mail stating that your account has received a warning and has been banned for a full day. The e-mail will also explain why, and that your post in the role play has been deleted. Once the day is over, you will be able to return to the forums as normal. (Mature role play not included in this type of offense.)
For a second role play offense your account will be sent an e-mail stating that your account has been banned for thirteen days, why, and that your post has been deleted from the role play. Once the thirteen days are over, you may return to the forums as normal. (Mature role play not included in this type of offense.)
For a third role play offense your account will be sent an e-mail stating that your account has been banned for one month, why, and that your post has been deleted from the role play. This can happen five times in total. Once the month is over, you may return to the forums as per normal. (Mature role play not included in this type of offense.)
.:Picture Posts:.
In every thread, except for the threads for your drawings or artistic photographs, you may only post one picture per post. I also want each post with a picture to have at least one sentence with it, even if it’s just a three word sentence.
In threads where you’re posting your artistic works, please link your images so that we may choose to look at them. It is also preferable to not be linked to deviantART in your art thread when showing us images you have made. Not everyone’s computer can run deviantART, so try to show the image itself.
Above the link, or as the hyperlink itself, please state the title of your work or a short description of what your work is. This way people know which ones that have seen and what they’re going to be looking at.
This is also an easy way for you to be able to show an artistic nude or mature work, using a hyperlink. If the work is mature in anyway, please state that the piece is mature by stating what is in it, or, simply, by stating that it is mature. This way younger people, or people uncomfortable with gore, nudity, violence, or sexual things will not have to look at pieces they can’t handle.
If links aren't used on at least the mature works, or too many images are on one page, a warning will be sent via Private Message to the user responsible explaining what is wrong. If it isn’t fixed within one week, a warning will be given to the account and a moderator will hyperlink all of the posted images. If not linking the images persists, then the account will be banned for two days. For information on further punishment, see “Getting Banned”.
.:Links:.
All links must be age appropriate, with the age cap being thirteen. Any pornographic sites or images linked will result in a warning given to the account responsible, and a deletion of the post, thread, or section of the signature.
Violent, derogatory, gory, or any other negative type images or sites that you may link in your signature are also not allowed. The link will be removed with a warning put in its place and a warning given to the account.
.:YouTube:.
Post YouTube links only where allowed, such as in the spam section of the Forum Games forum. You may even find threads in the television, movie, video game, or music sections of the Entertainment forum where you can link YouTube videos.
Any YouTube videos posted where they shouldn’t be will result in a warning. For information on further punishment, see “Getting Banned”.
.:Karma:.
While Karma doesn’t mean much on most ProBoards forums, I’m going to make it mean something. Karma on my forum may take away warnings or even give them, so I hope you have some nice friends.
For every ten Karma received – before or after a given warning, as long as it adds up to a divisor of ten after the given warning – will take away one level or warning on your warning bar.
For every thirty Karma taken away from a member – this is called “smiting” – a warning level will be given to the member. Clearly they’re doing something wrong, and it’s getting on the members’ nerves.
Yes, you can go to negative Karma, and yes, I will still take away a level on a warning bar if you go from negative thirty to negative twenty. I will keep track of everyone’s Karma to make sure everyone is getting along just fine.
.:Harassment:.
Harassment will not be tolerated on my forums. If you can’t handle yourself like a mature teenager or adult, then you’ll probably end up with the most bans – and as one of the least popular members on the forum, I’m sure.
Do not bash or flame other members by any means. Do not harass members via Private Message. I will be posting polls on the forum every month for an opinion of what kind of forum people think this is – friendly or not.
Bashing and flaming will result in a warning to the account. If the bashing and flaming continues, the account will be banned for two days. For information on further punishment, see “Getting Banned”.
We also need to treat all of the members on the forum with respect despite any social differences, race differences, orientation differences, etc. Everyone is human, and everyone has feelings. You wouldn’t want someone bashing you or making fun of you for any of those reasons, would you?
.:Advertising:.
I understand that some of you may have forums of your own; however, I cannot allow you to advertise your forum on my own. My forum is far too small for such a thing, so please advertise your forum elsewhere.
If you’re feeling generous, you may advertise this forum on other sites to try and get other members to join. Ten karma points will be added to your account, and a free request drawing or banner will be given to you.
You may post links to your deviantART, tumblr, or otherwise. Showing your deviantART account and advertising that is a completely different thing to advertising a forum of your own.
Any accounts found to be advertising their forums on my forum will be warned. For information on further punishment, see “Getting Banned”.
(NOTE: Accounts that are banned multiple times – five or more – will then receive a ban of three months. Upon return after the three months, if a reason for banning occurs again, the account will be IP banned and the username will be banned permanently.)
